About Kishor Wasan

Kishor Wasan is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, and has received numerous awards for his contributions to health sciences, including the Canadian Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences Leadership award for outstanding contributions to Pharmaceutical Sciences in Canada. Kishor Wasan has around 240 peer-reviewed articles and 280 abstracts published in the field of lipid-based medication delivery and lipoprotein-drug interactions.


Dr. Wasan most recently served as Dean of the University of Saskatchewan's College of Pharmacy and Nutrition from August 2014 to June 2019. Dr. Wasan led the research team at the Wasan lab at the University of British Columbia that created what is now iCo 019, and he will first focus his efforts on the continued development of iCo 019 through partnerships and collaborations.

Kishor Wasan was a tenured professor and assistant dean of research at the University of British Columbia until 2014. Dr. Wasan has been heavily involved in the development of new research and teaching programs, and he has published over 520 peer-reviewed articles and abstracts in prestigious journals. During his 19 years of independent research at UBC, he has showed success in guiding research programs. Wasan earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the University of Texas at Austin and a doctorate in cellular and molecular pharmacology from the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Kishor Wasan has worked as a pharmacist in both retail and hospital settings, and he still holds a Texas pharmacist license.

Kishor Wasan is also a Distinguished University Scholar, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research/iCo Therapeutics Inc. Research Chair in Drug Delivery for Neglected Global Diseases, and a member of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, and the Canadian Society of Pharmaceutical Scientists. He is well-known in the postsecondary field for his research and curriculum reform abilities.
